I started out as a Dance and Aerobics Instructor in the 1980's, right in the middle of the aerobics phenomenon.  I combined my dance training with the high impact of aerobics and created my own style.

Then the unthinkable happened.  I herniated a disc in my lower back that required surgery.  But I was determined to return to my classes, and I did. One year later I herniated the same disc.  More surgery and an end to my dance career.

I struggled for years trying to find a new movement I could stick to.  Nothing seemed to work.  But lo and behold along came Nia.  It has changed my life!  I practiced Nia as a student for 6 years and then decided to take the White Belt Intensive to become a teacher.  I had found my new place in the world.

I continue to practice Nia as I continue my journey to self-discovery.  I want very much to share this wonderful and positive movement program with all who are open to gaining insight and knowledge about their bodies, minds, and spirits.

I am continuing my education in May when I take my certification test for "Group Fitness Instructors" from the American Council On Exercise.  I am also a member of "IDEA" and "Exercise is Medicine" groups.

I look forward to sharing the JOY!
